Warp Five: A Star Trek Enterprise Podcast

Feb 26, 2015

The SHRAN...the MYTH...the GARAK of Enterprise!

Shran of the Andorian Imperial Guard is undoubtedly one of the most beloved characters in ENTERPRISE. Meticulously and brilliantly portrayed by Star Trek "everywhere man", the living legend Jeffrey Combs - Shran exploded onto ENTERPRISE in Season One's The Andorian Incident. In only 10 episodes and a handful of off screen references (such as the Enterprise novels) Shran was force of nature that elevated ENTERPRISE with his every appearance. He forged a bond with Archer so strong that it became the catalyst for the future of the Federation.

Previously on Warp Five: Episode 25, Christopher Jones and Tyler Johnson discuss the Andorians at length and it's a great show if you are unfamiliar with Andorians history and culture. But Shran was so volatile and so explosive...we felt that he deserved his very own focus. In this episode of Warp Five, Will Nguyen and I delve deeply into his character, especially his motivations and illustrate how pivotal Shran's role was to the NX-01 mission. If one thing is for certain, Shran isn't always what he appears to be. However, he truly and deeply believes that he is first and foremost...a Patriot.
